Shi Huichi

Shi Huichi is the younger brother of Huiyuan. Huichi has a calm and peaceful temperament, with lofty and grand aspirations. At the age of 14, he started studying for one day, while others studied for ten days. Proficient in literature and history, skilled in various scriptures, and proficient in the three collections of scriptures, laws, and treatises. Dao'an was under the guidance of Huiyuan Yuan in Xiangyang, and Huichi also accompanied Huiyuan. When I first arrived in Jingzhou, I stayed at Changming Temple. Later, when I arrived at Lushan, Huichi was far away with Huichi. Huichi is eight feet tall, with a handsome wind spirit. He often wears grass shoes and holds half of his clothes. There are more than three thousand Buddhist disciples on Mount Lu, including many outstanding figures, but none can compare to Huichi.
Hui holds an aunt who is a nun named Daoyi and lives in Jiangxia. Daoyi heard that Buddhism was prevalent in the capital and wanted to visit the capital to observe and educate. Huichi sent his aunt to the capital and stayed at Dong'an Temple. King Langye of the Jin Guard was martyred and highly valued Huichi. At that time, there was a monk from the Western Regions named Sinhalese who was skilled in reciting four types of the "Hanjing". Wang Di asked Sinhalese to translate the "Zhong'a Hanjing", carefully review the text, and finally finalize it. Later, he returned to Mount Lu.
Not long after, the governor of Yuzhang, Fan Ning, asked Hui Chi to give a lecture on the Lotus Sutra and the Pitan Sutra. The audience gathered from all directions and traveled thousands of miles away. In a letter to Fan Ning, Wang Ju asked, "Which one is stronger between Huiyuan and Huichi?" Fan Ning replied, "They are a pair of wise brothers!" Wang then wrote a letter saying, "If the elder brother is sincere, is the younger brother more virtuous?" Wang Gong, the governor of Chongzhou, said in a letter to the monk inspector of Shamen, "How is the virtue of Huiyuan and Huichi's younger brother?" The monk inspector replied, "Huiyuan and Huichi's brothers are confident and noble in their way." Kumarajiva was in Guanzhong and respected Huiyuan and Huichi's brothers, exchanged greetings with Zhixin, and became good friends.
